George Baker re Wichita Falls organ
July 10, 2010
It was such a pleasure to work with Dan Garland on the organ project at First United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas. My role was to serve as consultant. Dan was so very easy to work with. I felt we were a great team, and we freely shared concepts and ideas. The result, I believe, is an organ that sounds as beautiful as it looks. One interesting aspect of the project is that funds originally meant for the organ itself were used to replace the old, acoustically absorbent ceiling with a new, hard, reflective ceiling. This made all the difference in the world–music now comes alive in the room as never before. The donors and congregation were thrilled. Bravo to Dan and his wonderful crew for a job well done!
